Mawksiar village is located at a distance of approx. 40 kms from Mawkyrwat, headquarter of Southwest Khasi Hills Dist. and at a radial distance of 20 kms from the international border. It has a population of about 128 (as per 2011 census). The people of the village mainly depend on farming for their livelihood and their main produce include black pepper, bay leaf and Thysanolaena maxima (broom).
The inhabitants of the village find it difficult to educate their children as there are few schools in the area and it is nearly impossible for the parents to send their children to the dist headquarter for their education as the area is inaccessible by road, especially during the monsoon, where they have to walk on foot for 2hrs or more to the nearest motorable village. Therefore, with the presence of the school in the village it has become a more easy for the parents to educate their children.

Urkasniang village is located at a distance of approx. 10 kms from Mawkyrwat, headquarter of Southwest Khasi Hills Dist. and at a radial distance of 20 kms from the international border. It has a population of about 350 (as per 2011 census). The Rympei S.H.G has about 30 members and with this project it has helped in employment generation for the unemployed youth of the area.

Hilland village is located at a distance of approx. 30 kms from Mawkyrwat, headquarter of Southwest Khasi Hills Dist. It has a population of about 87 (as per 2011 census). The people of the village mainly depend on farming for their livelihood and their main produce include black pepper, bay leaf and Thysanolaena maxima (broom). The teachers of the school have to manage all the classes under primary section in a single room of an adjacent school as the previous school building was damaged by strong winds. Therefore, with the completion of the building it has greatly helped the students and teachers alike.
