Mawlyngbna Village has a total population of 1546 as per 2011 census. It is located at a distance of 17 Km from Mawsynram and has turned out to be a Tourist hotspot. In this village there is a fossils park which was recently discovered and preserved and this village is also famous of the animals footprint at "Iew Luri Lura" which is believed to the market place run by the animals in the ancient times in which the footprints are still visible till date.There are also many natural springs in the village that supply clean fresh water. The concrete cemented bathing and washing place will no doubt serve the interest of the people of the village in terms of providing them with a proper facility for washing clothes and for bathing purposes through the water which is fed from the natural spring and streams.

Mawsynram village is the block headquarter of the Mawsynram C & RD Block in East Khasi Hills District and it is a huge village in terms of population. The irony here is that even though it is one of the place which receives maximum rainfall in the world, however, the one of the main problem that the village face is the water crisis. Further, rain-harvesting is not practiced by the people. The construction of the water storage tank with the added facility of the pump-house is meant to serve a section/locality of the village called Dong Neng and Dong Rum. It is expected that the project will benefit the two localities of the village.

Thyllaw Presbyterian U.P School, Thyllaw used to have very small classrooms. Hence, the school management found it difficult to increase the enrolment in the school for want of a spacious and more proper building. To a certain extent, this aid in the form of construction of additional building of the school is expected to address this very problem.

J.J.M Nichols Roy Secondary School at Mawsynram is one of the main secondary school in Mawsynram C & RD Block. With each passing year, there is an increase in the enrolment of students in this school and hence there is a genuine requirement for expansion of the existing building inorder to have additional classroom. The extension of the building on the upper tier is intended to serve the purpose of creating additional space for the benefit of students and the school as a whole.

Laitbah Union Higher Secondary School is one the main school in the Lawbah area which has rendered great service over the years. The fencing around the school has ensured that the school has a proper demarcation of its boundaries and more importantly the fencing has served the purpose of prevention of unwanted trespassing by cattle and other elements thereby creating a nuisance in the school and its premises. In addition, the fencing has added value to the outlook of the school.

St. Francis Xavier Secondary, Mawsynram was established in the year 1976 is one of the prime secondary school in Mawsynram C & RD Block. The school also has hostel facilities for both boys and girls coming from far flung villages. The student community in the school primarily comprises of children from the Khasi and Garo Comunity. At present there are 420 students, 21 teaching staff and 4 non- teaching staff in the school. With each passing year, there is an increase in the enrolment of students in this school and hence there is a genuine requirement for expansion of the existing building in order to have additional classroom. The extension of the building is intended to serve the purpose of creating additional space for the benefit of students and the school as a whole.
