BADO Sohra
Name of the Scheme: Construction of Footbridge at Wahiarlum, Diengsiar.
Amount Sanctioned: Rs. 5.00 lacs

This particularly stream at Wahiarlum situating around 2.5 km east of Diengsiar village posed as a barrier for the villagers during rainy seasons. The route is mainly used, on daily basis, by the villagers to reach their fields. However, it also connects the village with Umniuh-Tmar.In order to remove the problem faced by the villagers during rainy seasons, the Border Areas Development Department through the office of the BADO, Sohra had extended financial assistance of INR 5.00 lakh under BADP 2018-19 for the construction of this bridge.The bridge was duly and satisfactorily completed in all respects and is being used on daily basis.
Name of the Scheme: Construction of soil protection work, Khahmohi

Khahmohi village is around 4 km south of Shella market and stands near the Shella river that is on its east bank. This river causes flashfloods every monsoon, and eventually spread and created a new river course just beside the village. As a result, this village faces acute soil erosion, and was at a point of being washed away if no preventive measure was timely taken.
The department of the Border Areas Development, sanctioned an amount of INR 25.00 lakh under SCA(BADP) 2018-19 for the construction of soil protection works at the village. With this amount of grant received, the village council could erect the protection wall for a stretch of 300 Running Meters alongside the habitation. The office is yet to receive additional fund for covering the remaining distance of around 350 running meters.
Name of the Scheme: Construction of ring well, Washing and Bathing places at Diengrai Village

Diengrai is a border village falling under 26- Shella AC of Sohra block having a population of more than 450 and houselds of 85+ Since the village does not yet have any water supply, the villagers have to depend on the available underground water both for drinking and washing purposes. On the request of the village council, the Border Areas Development Department, took concrete initiative in this regard and sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 5.94312 Lakh for the construction of the ringwell in the village for drinking, and washing/bathing purposes.The project was duly completed and is being used by the villagers.
Name of the Scheme: Repair of suspension footbridge at Pungdan (2000-01), Suktia
Amount Sanctioned: Rs. 15.00 lacs

The existing suspension footbridge at Pungdan of Suktia village was created under BADP during 2000-01 with a bare sanction of Rs 3.00 lakh in order to ease people cross the river.This bridge connects Suktia, Mawsiangei, Nongla, with Ryngud, Laitiam and Sohkhmie. Suktia villagers trek on foot to Sohra market for a trekking distance of around 4 hours through this footbridge. However, the structures of the bridge were mostly rusted and the bridge was no more safe to use the department undertook major repair of the asset under the fund “Maintenance of Assets” of the BADP during the year 2018-19. Execution of the work was undertaken by the village council itself. The project was duly and satisfactorily completed; and is being used.
