Administrative set up of the Department

The Offices under the Administrative set- up of the Border Areas Development Department are categorized as follows:

1. Secretariat Level (Research wing as in the line of the State Planning Department)
2. Directorate Level and
3. District Level

At the Secretariat level, the Department is manned by the following Officers: -

1. Commissioner and Secretary
2. Joint Secretary
3. Under Secretary
4. One Research Officer
5. One Assistant Research Officer/ One LDA, One Typist, One Peon.

At the Directorate Level, the Department is manned by the following Officers:

2. Officer on Special Duty - Ph. No. PABX 2654
3. S.D.O. (Tech). - Ph. No. PABX 2660
4. Two UDAs/ Three LDAs / One Stenographer / One Asst. Auditor / One Typist/ One Tracer/ One Sectional Assistant / Three Drivers / Three Peons.

In the District Level, we have 3 (three) Assistant Directors and 12 Border Areas Development Officers.
The Offices of the Assistant Directors in the Districts, i.e. Shillong in East Khasi Hills, Jowai in Jaintia Hills and Tura in West Garo Hills are manned by the following Officers and Staff: -

2. One Junior Engineer
3. One LDA
4. One Sectional Assistant
5. One Peon
6. One Chowkider

In the Offices of the Border Areas Development Officers at Baghmara in South Garo Hills and Ranikor in West Khasi Hills, the Offices are manned by the following Officers and Staff: -

3. One Sectional Assistant
4. One LDA
5. One Peon
6. One Chowkidar

In the Offices of the Border Areas Development Officers at Khliehriat and Dawki in Jaintia Hills, Pynursla, Sohra and Mawsynram in East Khasi Hills, Gasuapara in South Garo Hills, Dalu, Ampati and Kalaichar in West Garo Hills, the Offices are manned by the following Officers and Staff: -
